Brain Waves

The brain is the center of our perception. Every emotion, thought or sensation create activity in our brain. The brain drives our ability to have emotional balance, physical well-being, autoimmune function and more. Brainwaves are electrical pulses which changes through our activities, and our feelings. Brainwave speeds are measured in Hertz, and they can be categorized into slow, moderate and fast waves.

  • Gamma Waves: 38- 42 Hz are high frequency, fastest brain waves, which process information from different brain waves. The mind has to be quiet to access gamma. It is highly active in a states of altruism and universal love. It is believed that, gamma modulate perception and consciousness, and a greater presence of gamma relates to expanded consciousness and spiritual awareness.
  • Beta Waves: 12 – 38 Hz are found in our normal waking state of consciousness, and are     present when our focus of attention on activities of the external world. Beta is an activity state, when we are engaged, alert, problem solving, focused on mental activity.
  • Alpha Waves: 8 -12 Hz occur when we daydream and often associated with a state of meditation. Alpha waves become stronger and more regular when our eyes are closed. It is the Now consciousness, resting state of brain.
  • Theta Waves: 4 -7 Hz are found in states of high intuition, creativity, learning, memory and have been equated high  levels of consciousness found in shamanic work. Theta waves also occur in states of meditation and sleep. In Theta, our senses are withdrawn from the external world, and focused within ourselves. It is the twilight state, which we may experience when we wake or fall sleep.  In theta, we are in dream, vivid imagery. This is the place, where we hold our fears, and suppressed emotions.
  • Delta Waves: .5 -3 Hz, deeply penetrating like a drum beat. It is generated in states of  dreamless sleep or during deep meditation. Delta waves suspend external awareness and the source of empathy. Healing and regeneration are stimulated in this state.
